Welcome to the website of Fiona Harper - Freelance Travel Writer / Photographer, Yachting Writer, Web Editor, Copywriter.
- I write.
- I engage.
- I inform.
- But most of all, as a writer/photographer, I entertain.
Travel.....
Boating..... Lifestyle.....
If you
require engaging, entertaining editorial to inspire your
readers, you've come to the right place. Particularly if your focus
involves taking readers above, under, on or, indeed, in the
water. Cruise Ships, Super Yachts, Day Sailers or Kayaks, if there's a vessel involved I will write about it. Whether indulging in
a luxury voyage, sailing a majestic tall ship or boarding a working freighter for adventure expeditions, therés a good chance you'll find me onboard. With notebook in hand and camera slung around my neck, it's how I dig out the best stories.
Back on land, waterfront destinations, islands, marinas, natural wilderness and soft adventure (ski, hike, cycle) are a particular specialty.
Pablo Picasso once said a painter
will transform the sun into a yellow dot, while a true artist, using their intelligence will transform a yellow dot into the sun. As a creative writer I endeavour to transform words into a journey. To evoke the sights, smells, textures and tastes of travel. To take you into the moment.
I am not paid for my labour, but
for my vision. To write creatively, to look afresh at what others may take for granted. To find intriguing angles where others see the mundane. This is just one good reason to commission me to craft exclusive feature articles for your publication. Other, no less important reasons, are the fact that I've never missed a deadline. Ever! I am ethically driven, independent and creatively unique.
As a freelancer who often
researches, travels and writes alone, I rely on a sense of humour to
see me through the toughest writing schedule. It also helps having a
penchant for a sassy Margaret River Sav Blanc to ease the late night angst of many, many hours spent at the computer while on assignment.
Why don't you Contact me now to commission
exclusive copy to engage your readers? |

"During my tenure as Editor of Australian Traveller Magazine, Fiona wrote regular short and long pieces on a variety of travel subjects, but her crowning achievements were without doubt her two encyclopaedic and opus-like features: one on the A-Z of cruising, yachting and boating within Australia; and another on the Ultimate Guide to the Great Barrier Reef.
Her copy was always on time, even against the challenges of extremely tight deadlines, and was always of the highest standard. Over my five years at AT, she became one of my most trusted contributors." Australian Traveller
